Global And International Leaders
What leadership competencies do you need to succeed?
A change of setting, such as going from a local to a global or international assignment, requires learning and integrating new competencies. Preparation is key.
Research shows that these are the key skills and attitudes that every leader needs to be successful in a global-international setting:
Chaos navigator, leverage and unify multiple perspectives.
Catalyst of change
Innovate, optimize, and deal with complexity.
Influence across borders, inclusive, energize, and build trust.
Connect locally and globally, create and nurture networks.
Cultural acumen, interpersonal, and cross-cultural communication.
Curiosity, learning, open‐mindedness, and embrace duality.
Self-awareness, self-concept, maturity, and personal transformation.
Self-regulation, coping strategies, resourcefulness, and optimism.

Underestimating the challenges of global and international assignments and failing to develop these competencies may lead to negative implications both for the individual and their organization.

Mastering Life Abroad
How do you successfully recreate your life in a foreign country?
Navigating an international relocation requires strong organization and relational skills, optimism, and an open mind. Local life does not teach partners how to behave and think in different and more complex environments; therefore, when moving abroad, they may find themselves caught off guard. When the international relocation depletes their energy, Life Partners may be unable to support themselves and their families.
These are some of the key skills and attitudes that may support during transitions:
Curiosity, learning, open‐mindedness, and can do attitude.
Clear planning, follow up and resources management.
Self -kindness vs. self-judgment, larger perspective, mindfulness.
Emotional regulation, coping strategies, resourcefulness, and optimism.
Nurture relationships back home and abroad, with the locally and international communities.
Understand and accept cultural differences,cross-cultural communication, and the ability to adjust.
At OHC we believe in the key role that Life Partners play on the international scene and we are keen on helping them embrace the experience and design a purposeful life abroad.
Our coaching programs help expatriate Life Partners with crafting their international lives and finding fulfillment and meaning away from home. With some preparation and professional support along the way, things can get a lot easier.
